Privacy policy

Last updated: August 2026. Homy is the data controller for the personal data described here, under the GDPR.

If you're a customer

You don't need an account. We don't ask for your name or email. What you type into the search box — your description of the problem and your postcode — is used to show you matches and is not linked to you personally.

If you're a trade professional

When you list your business, we collect and store:

  • Your name and surname
  • Your company name, VAT number and business address
  • Your email address and phone number
  • Your rate, experience, working area, categories, photo and description
  • Your subscription status and a payment reference from our payment provider

Your company name, first and last name, photo, categories, rate, experience, description and phone number are shown publicly on your listing — that's the point of it. Your VAT number, address and email are not shown publicly.

Why we're allowed to hold it

  • To perform our contract with you (running your listing and your subscription).
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations (invoices, VAT records).
  • Our legitimate interest in checking listings are genuine before they go live.

Who else sees it

Our hosting and database provider, and our payment provider. We do not sell personal data and we don't run advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

For as long as your listing is active, plus the period we're legally required to keep invoicing records. After that, we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Most of it you can edit yourself in MyHomy. For anything else, email hallo@homy.be and we'll sort it within 30 days. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
